Terms of service

Animal Welfare:

  • The owner is responsible and will ensure that their dog is up-to-date with their vaccinations, flea and tick treatments and de-wormer treatments.

  • The owner agrees that, in admitting their pet, Dogs & Kat has relied on the owner’s representation that their pet is in good health and has not harmed or shown aggression or threatening behaviour toward any person or any other animal.

  • Bitches may not attend Dogs & Kat while in season. We reserve the right to refuse admission if these criteria are not met.

  • All pets will be subject to an initial assessment by Dogs & Kat prior to using our services. We reserve the right to refuse admission to any pet deemed in their absolute discretion to be, or have the potential to be, dangerous or disruptive.

  • The owner agrees to notify Dogs & Kat immediately of any unwelcome, aggressive, procreative, or dangerous behaviour of their pet that has potential to cause harm to any other animal or individual. Failure on the part of the owner to disclose any matter which might render owner’s dog unsuitable for walking or home visits will be deemed a material omission amounting to a fundamental breach of our agreement.

  • Dogs & Kat will make every effort to contact the owner in the event of an emergency. We recommend owners provide us with a contact number of a trusted third party should we be unable to make contact. However, we reserve the right to make decisions regarding your dog’s health provided it is at all times acting in the best interests of the dog and on the advice of a veterinary surgeon. Owner is responsible for payment of any veterinary fees incurred by Dogs & Kat.

  • The owner agrees to ensure their dog has not eaten in the hour before picking up by Dogs & Kat to ensure sufficient time to digest food before any exercise or play. Failure to do so may result in the potentially life-threatening condition Bloat (Gastric Torsion).

  • During particularly hot weather, we will walk dogs either earlier or later in the day to avoid the heat. When this cannot be accommodated, we reserve the right to cancel walks altogether for the health of the dogs. In this instance you will not be charged.

General:

  • Owner accepts full liability for any loss or damage caused by their pet whilst being walked or visited. Dogs & Kat are not held accountable for vet fees or third party claims whilst your pet is in our care.

  • We are fully insured to walk up to six dogs at a time (although for the safety of the pack and ourselves we always choose to walk smaller groups). Whilst every effort is made to have walks one-to-one, most of the time your dog will be walked with other friendly dogs, unless it has been made clear to us in advance that your dog needs to be walked alone.

  • Walks typically take place Mon -Fri within the hours of 9am - 12noon, and 3pm - 6pm. Your booking time is estimated only and whilst we make every effort to arrive within these hours, times may vary depending on distances travelled to collect dogs, road conditions and unforeseen circumstances. In adverse weather conditions please understand that we are still open and may be slightly delayed.

  • The owner agrees to provide keys/arrange access to the pet for the agreed appointment; failure to do so will result in a cancellation for that day’s service and will be paid in full by the client.

Cancellation:

  • You may cancel your booked slot and provided you give a minimum of 24 hours notice, you will not be charged. However, if cancellation is made within 24 hours of the walk commencing, the full rate will be charged.

Prices & Invoicing:

  • Prices are as advertised on our services pages. Please visit the dog walking and pet sitting pages on our website to view them fully. Please be aware that our rates are very competitive and are not negotiable. Prices are per walk/visit and do not include travel time. (Eg. For a one hour walk your dog might typically be with us for 1.5 hours including collection/drop- off.)

  • We keep an accurate record of customers bookings and send out invoices weekly by email. We would like to remind customers that payments are due within 7 days of the invoice being sent.

Charges

  • In accordance with Late Payment Of Commercial Debts Act 1988 amended 1998 & 2002, we reserve the right to impose a £1.50 initial late payment fee if a payment is more than three days overdue, then £0.25 charged on a daily basis from the fourth day until payment is received in full.

Termination Policy:

  • Clients and Dog & Kat agree to give one week’s written notice to cancel the agreement. If you do not require the service for that week a cost of 50% of that weeks walks will be due. This will be based on an average of your previous 4 weeks.
